Did you get an official-looking letter or email saying you need to pay to renew your domain?
This is probably a scam. All of these scam letters will say “This notice is not a bill.” or “This is a solicitation. You have no obligation to pay the amount listed.” These phrases will likely be in a place that doesn’t catch your eye, so you will want to read these letters closely. Here are a few examples of what you will want to be on the lookout for.
To verify that your domain is in our safe hands, enter your domain name (such as mywebsite.com) on this website: lookup.icann.org. This site will let you know if Big Imprint owns your domain name or if someone else owns it.
Once you get to lookup.icann.org these are somethings to look for:
- Contact Information Box: This box will tell you who the registrant of your domain (this is who owns your domain). If we are managing your domain, you will see Big Imprint, LLC listed.
- Registrar Information Box: This box will inform you where your domain is being held. If we are managing your domain, you will see GoDaddy.com, LLC listed.
These two things allow you to verify who owns your domain, so you know if a bill is real or a scam. If you are ever unsure, please reach out to us to verify if we manage your domain.
